The Cabin's List of Romantic Reads

The days of pink and red chocolate boxes are upon us. The days where the caramel and the nougat chocolates are seized up quickly while the coconut, raspberry ganache, and Key limes add deceptive weight to the dark brown plastic. I’m Cameron, an Intern at The Cabin. I would like to to suggest a list of Romance novels that are diverse, yet potentially bittersweet just in time for your Valentines holiday.

1. The Fault in our Stars by John Green

John GreenFrom the mind of John Green, this book follows the story of Hazel and Gus both in a cancer support group. After the two find themselves in love, they are swept up in an opportunity to meet a famous yet secluded author.   

 

2. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

From the mind of Maggie Stiefvater, this story follows a girl named Grace who becomes mesmerized by wolves in her back-yard. Through these peculiar wolves, Grace learns about community, life and death through the eyes of a wolf firsthand.   

 

3. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Two lovers are separated by fate and feuding families. Our protagonists engineer a plot to unite and escape from tradition.  

 

4. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

5. Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

5Cursed with growing old while still young, our protagonist ventures out to find the wizard that can help.    

6. Graceling by Kristin Cashore

6Heterochromia is revealed as a sign of the beholder’s natural talent and mastery over a skill. Our protagonist attempts to live and love in a world where she has a talent for fighting. The book takes place in the castle-age.
