Only Lit Lovers Need Apply

The Cabin is run by readers and writers who are passionate about community-centered literary arts and sometimes we need more of us. Whether you’re looking for a new career or the chance to usher at a lecture or two, you can find all current opportunities listed below.

Internships

Want experience in nonprofit management? Cabin interns receive on-the-job training and experience working as a part of the vibrant literary arts community in Idaho.

WITS Teaching-Writer Apprentice

The Cabin is seeking writers in the community to serve as paid teaching-writer apprentices for the WITS program over the 2024-25 school year. Apprentices will be paired with a mentor teaching-writer for one 12-week residency based on their interests and availability.

Host a Workshop

Have something to share? Make The Cabin your podium for insights and ideas in the world of fiction, poetry, prose, and and other way words can fit together.

Volunteer Camp Teaching Assistant

Our summer writing camps are weeklong literary adventures for Idaho kids in grades 3-12. Each camp is led by a professional writer who designs camp curriculum based on creative writing enrichment in their genre of expertise: poetry, fiction, memoir, journalism, and plays. Through active, imaginative writing experiences, Cabin camps engage students in the power of reading and writing as lifelong practice.

Volunteer teaching assistants are a big part of the success of writing camp. Teaching assistants work directly with Cabin writing students and teaching writers.

Camper Support Assistant

We are looking for individuals to support, assist, and provide accommodations for individual campers with special health, accessibility, and behavioral needs during our 2024 Summer Writing Camps.

More Ways to Support The Cabin

The best and easiest way to support The Cabin? Make a donation. You’ll be a major part of going all-in for reading and writing, hosting writing camps for kids, and bringing writing into schools and throughout the community.

Let’s make it official. Becoming a Cabin member means strengthening reading and writing in the Treasure Valley. And members get priority access to events that fill up fast. That’s a win-win.

Help us thank the supporters who make our programs possible.
