Writing Workshops

Ready to tell your story? Whether you’ve just written your first poem or have published a novel (or eight), The Cabin’s Writing Workshops will provide the support, tools, and community you need to develop as a writer.

All workshops take place at The Cabin in Boise, Idaho, and range from single-evening workshops to six-week intensives. And all of our six-week workshops are capped at twelve students, so you’ll receive individualized guidance from your teaching-writer and fellow workshoppers.

Free Drop-In Writing Workshops

Meet your writing community! Join us at The Cabin on the first and third Tuesday every month from 6:30 – 8:00 PM for a totally free, no-strings-attached Drop-In Writing Workshop. Drop-In is hosted by some of our community’s most creative writers, who will lead you through unique writing prompts and leave you with a poem, story, or something completely different to revise at home. These workshops are open to adult writers of all skill levels, and while laptops are welcome, you only need to bring yourself!

Financial Aid

The Cabin is dedicated to bringing writing instruction to all writers. Financial aid is available for all workshops once minimum enrollment has been reached. These scholarships allow you to pay what you can for the workshop of your choosing and are awarded one to two weeks before the start of the workshop.

“I now call myself a writer of memoir and nonfiction and I’m proud of it. I’ve taken many previous classes in writing, but this one nailed my focus.”
