 For previous updates on the Boise Public Library campus, visit the links below: Cabin Library Update #1Cabin Library Update #2As most of you have heard by now, the City of Boise’s library design team led by Moshe Safdie prefers to move The Cabin to make way for the new main branch of the Boise Public Library. Though they are still considering an option where our building stays at its current site, they have made it clear that keeping us here will heavily impact the functionality of both the new library and our organization. We haven’t been offered a design, for example, that allows a drop-off point near our accessibility ramp, or that provides outdoor space to hold needed events like our weekly summer camp readings. With that in mind, we have been working with the city to carefully consider a possible new location for the building that reflects its original park setting while providing access to and space for our organization to provide vital arts programs. On Tuesday, November 27^th, the library design team will present a few relocation options to the City Council for consideration.While there are three new sites that will be discussed at the meeting, our board has voted to approve only one of them, a space adjacent to the north side of Julia Davis Park behind the Idaho Black History Museum and the Abraham Lincoln statue. We believe that this location is the only option that provides a safe, tranquil space for our literary programs while preserving easy access to our classrooms, boardrooms, and offices. BoiseDev.com posted an article in August that best illustrates the site.At this point, we could use your help letting the City know that among the current options up for consideration, the space adjacent to Julia Davis Park provides the best opportunity for The Cabin to continue to grow and thrive. While the City Council will not be taking testimony at the meeting, they are accepting feedback at librarycampus@cityofboise.org. Again, the City Council meeting will be on Tuesday, November 27th.
