Your next big idea is closer than you realize. Whether you consider yourself a true beginner or seasoned practitioner, the key to successful writing starts with your mindset. Writers are thinkers. In this six-week, multi-genre course, you will learn to move through the world thinking like a writer: noticing environmental details, drawing inspiration from the language around us, and nurturing alertness to the potential for a story or poem in the everyday.

Each session features a specific tool: imagery, style & form, voice, rhythm & music, figurative language, and diction. Using text models and prompts designed to inspire all experience levels alike, learn new skills, polish old ones, and refresh concepts. Regardless of genre — even if you don’t have a genre — this workshop will teach you to tap into inspiration anytime, anywhere.

This workshop will be held online. You must have the Zoom app downloaded and a reliable internet connection to access your class meetings. You will receive the information to access your Zoom classroom one week before the start of your workshop — check your spam folders if you don’t see it!
