What makes you laugh? What tickles your funny bone? And how do you bring your sense of humor into your writing?
In this six-week humor writing workshop, we’ll look at how you can call on your own insight, experience, and all that irks you to bring the laughs.
Over six sessions, we'll explore styles of humor writing including satire, parody, and anecdotal/personal essays, and learn some comedy writing techniques to give you a framework to infuse your writing with humor and create your own humor pieces.
We’ll look at authors including Nora Ephron, Trevor Noah, Firoozeh Dumas, Aristophanes, Samantha Irby, and more, and dissect pieces from McSweeney's, The New Yorker, and more to uncover recurring techniques you can make your own.
This workshop will be held online. You must have the Zoom app downloaded and a reliable internet connection to access your class meetings. You will receive the information to access your Zoom classroom one week before the start of your workshop — check your spam folders if you don’t see it!
