Blog One photoBeing an intern has a way of making you feel very tragic and very important. I mean, if I’m not here to get coffee, will this office internally combust? We just don’t know.I’m joking, of course. Though I have a lot of jobs as an intern, getting coffee is not one of them. My bosses would never allow such a blatant cliché and I have much cooler things to do. Today I built a shelf without directions, which was, without exaggeration, the most difficult thing I have ever had to do in my 21 years of life.Like I said, tragic and important.Besides furniture assembly, the hardest part of my job is to not write. The Cabin is designed to be the ultimate writer’s haven, with its soft footfalls, riverfront views, and chairs that swivel at random. But while my creativity is important, my job as an intern is to guide others with their own. And I’m good with it, actually. Writing is one of the most important things people can do, even if they don’t believe that. Helping the kids at our writing camps realize that is exactly how I want to spend my summer.-Ashley, camp intern from the College of Idaho.Leave a comment
