Hear from current Idaho Writer-in-Residence, Kerri Webster, and the inaugural Boise City Writers-in-Residence, Natalie Disney and Heidi Kraay, as they share original works and discuss the importance of supporting Idaho’s readers and writers.
This event is free and open to the public. Food and drink are available for purchase at Lost Grove. Attendees may participate in a raffle with prizes ranging from free books, to cool tote bags, to tickets to upcoming literary events.
About the Writers
Kerri Webster currently serves as writer-in-residence for the State of Idaho. She is the author of four books of poetry: Lapis (Wesleyan University Press, 2022), The Trailhead (Wesleyan, 2018), Grand & Arsenal (University of Iowa, 2012), and We Do Not Eat Our Hearts Alone (University of Georgia, 2005). She has taught at Washington University in St. Louis and Boise State, and as a Writer in the Schools for the Cabin. The recipient of honors including a Whiting Award, the Iowa Prize, the Lucille Medwick Award and a Chapbook Fellowship from the Poetry Society of America, the Lynda Hull Memorial Prize, an Alexa Rose Foundation Grant, and three Literature Fellowships from the Idaho Commission on the Arts, Webster’s poems have appeared in journals including Poetry, the Boston Review, Denver Quarterly, the Los Angeles Review, Colorado Review, Grimoire, Guernica, Indiana Review, Washington Square Review, Kenyon Review, Antioch Review, Beloit Poetry Journal, and Poetry Northwest.
Heidi Kraay currently serves as the Boise City Writer-in-Residence and is a Boise-based playwright and writer-across-disciplines whose work collides myth, metaphor, and monsters to discover connections across difference. Dramatic work has been presented locally, regionally, and internationally. Interdisciplinary projects include her first book, 12 Lifetimes: A Century Cycle, released in December from Modern Mythographer. She holds an MFA in Creative Inquiry and Interdisciplinary Arts from the California Institute of Integral Studies and is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild of America. Heidi is currently pursuing a Certificate in Dramatic Writing through the Dramatists Guild Institute.
Natalie Disney, the inaugual Boise City Writer-in-Residence, recently earned her MFA in creative writing from Boise State University, where she served as Associate Editor of The Idaho Review. Her work has been published in The Florida Review, The Mississippi Review, and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and the PEN America Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers. She is a recipient of the 2017 Glenn Balch Award for fiction. She teaches writing at BSU and is at work on her first novel.
