Acquire a toolbox for rewriting and revising, overcome procrastination, tame your inner critic, and make your writing shine!
Hemingway rewrote A Farewell to Arms “at least 50 times” and the last page 39 times. Nabokov admitted having rewritten every word he ever published. It is said of Pulitzer Prize–winning novelist Anthony Doerr that he is “a ruthless reviser. When he thinks he’s got it, he throws it away [and starts] again.”
Rewriting and revising are the mainstay of successful writing, and yet many writers don’t know where or how to begin the process. This workshop will make revision not only approachable but fun and productive.
In this 6-week workshop we will:
· Share ways to overcome procrastination and tame the inner critic
· Acquire a toolbox of tips and techniques for revising
· Practice specific revision strategies by applying them to our work
· Give and receive valuable feedback on our writing
· Explore common writing errors and how to fix them
· Devise individual revision plans for moving forward
Note: This workshop is for writers of PROSE (short story, novel, creative nonfiction). Poets, we’ll catch you next time!
This workshop will be held online. You must have the Zoom app downloaded and a reliable internet connection to access your class meetings. You will receive the information to access your Zoom classroom one week before the start of your workshop — check your spam folders if you don’t see it!
