Reading and Writing Poems: A Guide

About this 6-week workshop:

What is a poem?  In this 6-week workshop, open to writers of all skill levels, we will explore what poetry is holistically by reading and discussing both classic and contemporary poems in closed and open forms. We will learn what meter is, explore various verse forms, and practice writing poems. By the end of this workshop, you will leave with an understanding of some poetic rules (and how to break them), a slew of new poems, and a strengthened creative writing vocabulary that will serve you inside any writing genre.

This workshop will take place virtually, via Zoom from 6:30 – 8:30 PM MDT on the following Thursdays:

  • October 1st

  • October 8th
